The Fermi Paradox makes a note of the contradiction between the overwhelming probability that extraterrestrial life exists in our universe, and the lack of evidence for any such civilizations so far.
The question is simply stated as this: “If there is such a high probability (mathematically) that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe, then where are they?”
